About Me

Hi, I’m Matteo Lion! I’m a web developer based in South Manchester. Originally from the north of Italy, I’ve spent the last 15 years living in Spain, Australia, and finally settled in the UK, which I now call home.

My love for the digital world started as a kid with a slow, clunky desktop computer. I spent hours exploring the web, experimenting with early HTML, and building my first websites. While I initially trained as a mechanic and manufacturing engineer, programming CNC machines and designing parts in AutoCAD, I was always drawn to the more creative side of technology.

Music played a big role in shaping my journey. To support music-related projects, I taught myself how to use design programs and started building websites on various platforms. I even created and managed web content for a radio station, which deepened my passion for blending creativity with tech.

For years, I built WordPress websites for small businesses and friends as a hobby. But in 2020, I decided to make it my full-time career. I earned a degree focused on web development from The Open University, gaining the expertise and confidence I needed to take my skills to the next level.

Now, I specialise in designing and developing websites that are intuitive, functional, and multilingual: I’m fluent in English, Italian, and Spanish. I’m also passionate about staying up-to-date with the latest technology and finding ways to reduce the carbon footprint of the websites I create.
